Chat GPT Personal Assistants and You

Have you tried the new Chat GPT Assistant. I built a few personal GPTs, had some fun and observed some pitfalls. Has a ways to go tbh.

I tried my hand this weekend at the new Chat GPT Assistant. I built a few personal GPTs, observed the experience, shared some ideas and saw some pitfalls.

What's on your Chat GPT 4 is a consumer toy essentially. Play with it, save it in the sidebar, put it in the market, maybe make a little money.

Pros:

  • It was pretty cool and fun to think imaginatively, what use case could I come up with for myself, for my company. Contact lists, medication lists, what checklists I need when I travel with the ZVG crew.
  • I liked the logos it created from DALL-E.
  • Really easy.

Cons:

  • It did not answer all my questions. It answered most.
  • I did note that I ran into a discussion on privacy and what information I could or should upload into the GPT. I'm also aware that all the data I upload GPT has access to and I do not want that out somewhere for everyone to access.
  • I did see a video where GPTs created and public, can be analyzed by users and the inputs accessed so someone else can built the exact same thing. There were prompts to input to ensure that didn't happen, still it was enough for me to raise a flag.

My Rundown CoFounder Thomas, sent me a X thread that highlighted how it's only been a few days so all the lame stuff being built needs to get flushed out before good applications emerge. That could take a while and an upgrade. The jury is out on use cases that would make these GPTs indispensable.

Thomas keeps reminding me that Open AI are the "new gatekeepers." We are currently totally reliant on it. Like the App Store it would have control over the businesses that create GPTs and we will have no choice but to pay. "The cost of running your own infrastructure is out of reach."

Let's see how the coming weeks play out. In the meantime, I'm looking for some good GPTs in the comms space that therundown.studio can check out. Drop us a note.
